Construction Engineer:

Carefully monitors the construction of transportation and municipal infrastructure improvement projects. Individual must be capable of acting as a Project Manager in charge of QCI's™ team of Resident Project Representatives on multiple projects to ensure that they are constructed to the highest standards of quality, they are delivered on time, within budget and conform to the plans and specifications of the owner.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site construction engineering and inspection to ensure conformance of completed work to plans and specifications.
  • Review and approve contractor's schedule.
  • Perform constructability reviews of plans and specifications and make recommendations for corrections that improve the bidding process or limit claims in the performance of the work.
  • Supervise and direct field staff, including inspectors, construction materials testers, and administrative personnel.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications to respond to questions from contractors.
  • Conduct project meetings with contractor and stakeholders.
  • Interact with project stakeholder in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate project issues to the contractor and participate in their timely and effective resolution by presenting suggested solutions for the owner's approval.
  • Prepare detailed written reports of project progress.
  • Complete photograph logs of project progress.
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, material certifications, and other project documentation.
  • Measure and or confirms RPR's documented installed quantities of work and make recommendations for payment.
  • Schedule subconsultant to perform materials testing and sampling or limited survey to verify line and grade of work and measure quantities and review and approve reports.
  • Maintain accurate as-built records of the project work.
  • Participate in the project closeout process including the accurate and timely submittal of project records to the client's satisfaction.
  • Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractor, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.

Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Ohio

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET Accredited University

5 or more years of industry experience as P.E. performing civil engineering duties in the areas of:

Transportation infrastructure including highways, bridges, airports, rail and transit systems, and ports.

Developments - Site work

Utilities (Sewer, Water, Gas, Electric and Fiber Trunk installation projects)

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Site Manager , ODOT CMS, ODOT 's Construction Inspection Manual.

 

 

 

Resident Project Representative (RPR) – Construction Inspector Transportation:

The QCI Group™ is seeking employees in support of public works and private inspection in the Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo, Ohio areas.

Applicants must have experience in all facets of road construction, ODOT CMS, sanitary, storm and sewer installation.  Candidates should be comfortable and skilled when serving as a liaison between engineers and contractors and must be detailed and accurate when conducting on-site observations.  Candidates should be proficient in the interpretation of contract documents and comprehensive when preparing various correspondence and reports.  This position requires strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read engineering plans and specifications.  Good work habits and work ethics are a must for independent workers.

Resident Project Rep/Inspection – Construction Inspector Railroad Track Work:

The QCI Group™ is seeking an individual to perform Resident Project Representation/Inspection tasks to monitor the work of the contractor during the installation of Railroad Track in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

The work would include: Inspection to ensure the work of the contractor is being performed to the requirements of the contract documents, assisting in the movement of rail equipment and supplies to and from the work area, writing daily construction activity reports, tracking materials, labor, and equipment. 

Hours may incluse days, nights and weekends.  Individuals should possess a combination of ten years of experience in the areas of inspection, maintenance, construction, and/or design of track work.  Applicant must be adept in MS Excel and word.  This candidate will be trained by Railroad for flagging and operational rules.  MUST HAVE PRIOR RAILROAD TRACK EXPERIENCE!!!

A drug test is required prior to the start of employment.

Employees in support of public works and private inspection, conduct on-site observations, interpretation of contract documents, and prepare various correspondence and daily reports.  Applicants must have experience in all facets of new and rehabilitated road construction, sanitary, storm sewer and water line installation, and treatment plants.  Additional specific experience in bridge structures, inspection, painting, and site development for vertical construction.  Position requires strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read engineering plans and specifications.  Good work habits and work ethic is a must for independent workers.  Employees must have a knowledge and experience in Civil Engineering Construction, PC literate, knowledgeable in ODOT and local government specifications.
